Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake

Ingredients :

For the Cake:

• 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix

• 1 cup water

• 1/2 cup vegetable oil

• 3 large eggs

• 1 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter

For the Cream Cheese Layer:

• 8 oz cream cheese, softened

• 1/2 cup powdered sugar

• 1/2 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

• 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

• 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as pecans or walnuts)

Directions :

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.

2. Prepare the Cake Batter:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix according to the package instructions until well combined.

3. Make the Cream Cheese Layer:

In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, peanut butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

4. Assemble the Cake:

Pour half of the chocolate cake batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate batter. Use a knife or a skewer to swirl the cream cheese mixture into the batter slightly, creating a marbled effect.

Pour the remaining chocolate cake batter over the top, spreading it evenly.

5. Add Toppings:

Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) evenly over the top of the cake batter.

6. Bake:

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).

7. Cool and Serve:

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

This Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake is rich, decadent, and perfect for peanut butter lovers! Enjoy this delightful dessert at gatherings or as a special treat!
